  • Amazon adds AI audio summaries to product pages for quick shopping insights in its app.
  • The feature delivers key details and customer feedback in a short conversational clip.
  • Currently for select users in the United States, more product pages will get the feature soon.

Amazon has begun introducing short audio product summaries powered by artificial intelligence on select product pages within its shopping app. These new audio highlights aim to present essential details about a product’s features and customer feedback in a friendly, conversational manner.

Shoppers using the app can listen by tapping the “Hear the highlights” option, making it possible to gather information without having to read through lengthy descriptions or reviews. The feature is currently being rolled out to a limited number of users in the United States and is focused on items that generally require more thought before purchase.

Expanding AI in Shopping Experiences

The company has explained that these audio summaries are generated using large language models drawing on both customer insights and relevant information from across the internet. Each summary is read by what Amazon calls an AI-powered shopping expert, aiming to make the product research process both engaging and simple, especially for shoppers on the go or multitasking.

Amazon sees this service as part of a broader pattern toward AI integration in online retail. The audio summaries complement existing features like Rufus, Amazon AI shopping assistant, as well as Interests, which tracks new items that suit a customer’s preferences.

Looking ahead, Amazon intends to expand the availability of these audio clips to more products and users within the country. This move aligns with a growing trend among major tech companies, many of whom are also exploring the benefits of short-form AI audio to boost user convenience.

For instance, another major player in the industry introduced a tool last year enabling users to create AI-generated podcasts that summarize documents and readings. Advances like these signal a shift toward personalized, on-demand insights, as companies strive to save shoppers time while making online buying more interactive and enjoyable.
