Amazon Web Services is working on a new AI driven tool called Kiro that can swiftly create code using user prompts and previously available data. According to information from internal sources, Kiro links with AI agents to enable almost instant code generation, bringing efficiency and speed to software development.
The system is designed to function through both web and desktop applications, broadening its range for developers. With the inclusion of multimodal features, Kiro can cooperate with outside AI agents by configuration, greatly expanding its flexibility.
Advanced Coding and Integration Features
Alongside generating code, Kiro assists with constructing technical design documents and identifying potential risks in projects. It is also equipped to refine existing code, making it an all-in-one assistant for engineering teams seeking productivity boosts.
Amazon already offers Q Developer, another AI backed coding assistant similar to GitHub Copilot. However, Kiro introduces expanded options and deeper capabilities, reflecting the growing trend and demand for AI code generation tools in development.
There were initial discussions about launching Kiro by the close of June, although those schedules may have shifted recently. Competitors in the space have made headlines, such as Anysphere, which reportedly achieved a nine billion dollar valuation, while another player, Windsurf, is nearing an acquisition by OpenAI worth three billion dollars.
