Apple is collaborating with Anthropic to introduce an advanced coding platform powered by generative artificial intelligence, Bloomberg revealed on Friday. Initially, this tool will be deployed for internal use at Apple, with a decision on a wider release still under discussion.
The upgraded software will be an evolution of Apple’s Xcode, integrating the Claude Sonnet model developed by Anthropic. This new AI capability aims to streamline the process of writing, editing, and testing programming code.
AI Partnerships Expand at Apple
Apple is working with multiple leaders in the artificial intelligence sector as part of its strategy to bolster its technological offerings. Services from OpenAI, such as ChatGPT, are already woven into Apple Intelligence, and Gemini from Google might soon join as an optional AI resource.
Anthropic’s coding models, particularly the latest versions of Claude, are gaining a following among developers who use coding platforms like Cursor and Windsurf. By tapping into Anthropic’s technology, Apple seeks to boost its internal software development capabilities.
