  • Microsoft adds AI video creation to the Bing app using OpenAIs Sora, free for first ten clips.
  • After ten videos, new clips cost 100 Bing Rewards points earned by searching or shopping.
  • Bing Video Creator is mobile-only, with five second clips suited for vertical social media content.

Microsoft just unveiled video generation technology in Bing, bringing the magic of OpenAI’s viral video generation technology, Sora, right into its Bing app. Anyone with a Microsoft account can craft their own AI videos, no professional editing skills required.

Previously, only paying customers could get their hands on Sora’s creative powers, but now, for the first time, Bing users get a complimentary ticket to the show.

You can whip up ten video clips for free before Microsoft asks you to pay up, but your wallet stays in your pocket as the fee comes in the form of Microsoft Rewards points. Those are the points you rack up every time you search the web with Bing or shop in the Microsoft Store.

For every regular search, you get five points and you can earn up to 150 points a day this way. After your first ten free snippets, each new video will set you back 100 points, so the more you search, the more creative you can get later.

If you’re hoping to create your masterpiece on a laptop, you’ll have to be patient. The Bing Video Creator is only live in the app, with the desktop version lagging behind for now.

How Creativity Flows with Bing’s AI Tool

The tool lets you line up three five-second videos to generate at once, but forget about creating feature-length films for now. Each clip maxes out at five seconds, so you’ll want your prompts to be punchy and precise.

Right now, your footage comes out vertical, perfect for TikTok or Instagram stories. Microsoft says horizontal options are coming down the pipeline, so widescreen fans won’t have to wait much longer.

Users have noticed that the so-called “fast” mode isn’t exactly speedy. Sometimes a video can take hours to materialize, so this is not the best bet for anyone in a hurry.

The company’s careful approach means they’re still testing and tightening things up before a wider release, especially for those using desktops.

Until then, mobile creators are getting first dibs on trying out Bing’s new toy.

Even with these early wrinkles, AI-generated video in Bing has stirred up excitement. There’s a sense that new doors are opening for storytelling, all through a phone screen.

Microsoft hopes this feature will encourage more users to engage with Bing, whether for the creative thrill or the lure of accumulating rewards points for future projects.

The blend of AI video creation tools, creativity, and search loyalty points is a bold move that could shake up how we play, search, and create online.
