Microsoft has started to introduce the beta version of Copilot for Gaming, an artificial intelligence powered assistant for Xbox fans, to select beta testers on both iOS and Android devices. Participants can use the feature inside the Xbox app, where Copilot answers questions related to games, personal gameplay stats, achievements, and provides curated links for more gaming information.
Players can ask the digital assistant to reveal their gamer score or even get advice on how to improve it. Copilot also handles general recommendations, such as making game suggestions based on movie preferences or previous play history.
Enhanced Personalization on the Horizon
When users pose questions about their achievements or upcoming subscription renewals, Copilot pulls data from player activity and supplements it with publicly available information from Bing for a tailored response. Microsoft has stated it aims to further expand the service, with planned features that include AI Xbox personalization, more individualized guidance and proactive game coaching.
Taylor O’Malley, a principal program manager with Xbox, indicated that the new assistant is designed as a supplemental tool, meant to run alongside the main gameplay session so gamers can keep their focus on playing. Early adopters can access Xbox Copilot assistant for Gaming as a second screen function, reducing on-screen distractions during gaming.
As of now, this trial version is offered in English and can be used by players aged eighteen and over in more than fifty countries, including the United States, Canada, Japan, and many locations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America. Microsoft intends to gradually make Copilot for Gaming available to even more regions as development continues.
