Google has rolled out its Audio Overviews feature for NotebookLM to support 76 additional languages, broadening its accessibility across global users. This update allows people everywhere to listen to summaries in their chosen language, making it easier to engage with content and understand documents uploaded to the platform.
Previously, summaries could only be generated in a user’s set language, but the recent addition of an Output Language setting provides greater flexibility. Users now have the freedom to switch languages whenever needed, which is ideal for those creating multilingual materials or needing to study in their native tongue.
More Flexibility for Global Learners
Google gives an example where teachers can offer various resources, like documentaries, research papers, and reports across different languages for classroom use. Students are then able to upload these resources and receive an audio summary tailored to whatever language they prefer.
Languages newly included range from Afrikaans and Arabic to Vietnamese and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, greatly expanding the tool’s reach. With this feature, NotebookLM stands out as a versatile tool for learners, educators, and professionals who operate in multilingual environments.
The expansion is part of Google’s ongoing effort to make digital learning resources more accessible, offering smooth content conversion. Switching the output language is simple and can happen at any point, catering to evolving needs for creating study guides, podcasts, or professional briefs in countless languages.
