Perplexity has introduced AI-powered productivity platform, a new platform for users of its $20 monthly Pro plan, giving them the ability to generate reports, manage spreadsheets, design dashboards, and more. The service is accessible on the web as well as on iOS and Android, with plans for rollout on Mac and Windows applications in the near future.
According to the company, Perplexity Labs is intended to streamline both professional and personal tasks, dedicating ten minutes or more to each project while employing tools for file creation and mini app design. The tool was unveiled on the same day as Manus released its own artificial intelligence driven option for creating slide presentations, marking a broader shift among companies seeking to expand their AI offerings.
Expanding Beyond Search
Perplexity is moving to diversify its core functions, shown by recent previews of its Comet browser and its acquisition of Read.vc, a networking platform tailored for professionals. Inside the Perplexity Labs workspace, users can conduct research and perform complex analyses by integrating resources such as live web searches, executing code, and producing both charts and images for data visualization.
Labs is also able to generate interactive online applications and can handle tasks including data structuring, writing formulas, and producing formatted documents. Any files created, be they charts, images, or code, are stored in a dedicated section within the platform that makes them easy to review or download later.
The company claims these new features open up more possibilities for users to manage and present their projects, yet acknowledges that artificial intelligence tools are not flawless. Real world testing will be crucial to evaluating how effectively Perplexity Labs meets its promises.
Over the past year, Perplexity has rolled out several workplace oriented improvements, including an enterprise focused tier that features team member management and internal knowledge search. These changes appear to align with investor expectations: Perplexity is reportedly negotiating a funding round that could total up to $1 billion and set its valuation at $18 billion.
