Rubrik co-founder Soham Mazumdar, after departing the company in 2023, has launched a new venture named WisdomAI. This enterprise aims to empower businesses by offering AI-based analytics that handle everything from pristine spreadsheets to chaotic, typo-filled datasets.
Traditional business intelligence tools typically require technical staff to clean and organize data before actionable insights can be generated. In contrast, WisdomAI lets managers simply ask detailed questions, receiving precise answers and recommendations within moments.
Transforming How Enterprises Use Data
Backed by a significant investment round totaling $23 million and led by Coatue, the startup has also garnered attention from investors like Madrona, GTM Capital, and Anthology Fund. Investors are betting on the broader vision that business decision-makers should access insights directly, bypassing slow report cycles and complicated data prep.
For example, WisdomAI enables a chief of revenue to ask urgent questions about the sales pipeline and receive a breakdown of pending deals and blockers. Instead of the process involving a team of analysts and days of waiting, users receive clarity in just a few keystrokes.
Beyond the executive suite, WisdomAI’s early customers include oil and gas companies that leverage the platform’s natural language interface on site. Staff in the field can ask production-related questions, drawing on diverse sources from digital records to equipment telemetry.
While many software tools now tout native AI-powered chat features, WisdomAI differentiates itself with a striking level of accuracy when dealing with complex or error-riddled information. The founding team hails from Mazumdar’s previous endeavor, Rubrik, lending further credibility to its approach.
Unlike typical AI models that might fabricate results when stumped, WisdomAI uses generative AI exclusively for constructing queries, not generating answers themselves. This reduces the risk of “hallucinations,” which remain a persistent problem elsewhere in the sector.
Should the internal model error, the only outcome is an ineffective search, never an invented fact. WisdomAI already counts industry giants such as ConocoPhillips, Cisco, and Descope among its early adopters, seamlessly connecting with popular data platforms like Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Databricks, and Postgres.
The system adapts rapidly to any data infrastructure by analyzing historical query logs, learning the queries unique to each organization. This adaptability helps companies maximize the value of their existing data no matter its format or how it is stored.
