Tech companies may be encouraging office returns, but many are actively turning toward Latin America to find skilled software developers for specialized AI projects. These organizations are not just interested in generic talent, but developers who can support large language model initiatives and supply the crucial expertise needed after initial model training.
Revelo, a hiring platform with a vetted network of Latin American programmers, reports a boom in demand from US firms seeking engineers for LLM post-training tasks. The platform, now supporting over 400,000 tech professionals, handles the hiring and payment logistics for American clients.
Executives at Revelo highlight that as AI enters its next phase, corporate needs have shifted to obtaining expert human input that refines language models for specific, high priority functions. Programming has become a central focus, with a new wave of companies wanting engineers who can supply the nuanced knowledge that allows LLMs to generate better code.
In 2024, roles related to LLM training contributed to nearly a quarter of Revelo’s revenue. Many clients approach Revelo searching for developers with advanced skills in specific programming languages, aiming to strengthen their teams during the post-training cycle.
Major US enterprises such as Oracle, Intuit, and Dell, along with most major hyperscale AI providers, source their talent through this platform. Revelo is not alone in this space; firms like Terminal, Tecla, and Near share similar goals of linking American companies with Latin American developer hiring talent.
The growing focus on post-training expertise is the latest trend capitalized on by Revelo, which was established in 2014 to bridge the talent gap in tech markets. By building a robust talent network first in Brazil, Revelo successfully tapped into intense employer demand and later expanded across the continent.
The impact of the pandemic was significant, rapidly broadening the company’s reach to US businesses who suddenly recognized the value of distributed, high quality teams. Many began by hiring only a few developers but found the combination of skill and cost so advantageous that they quickly sought to grow their nearshore teams.
Remote and distributed work may have lost some of its earlier fervor, yet Revelo continues to flourish and grow its developer network. Demand remains high because nearshoring combines geographical alignment with cultural and time zone compatibility, making Latin American talent especially valuable for US companies.
To keep pace, Revelo has acquired five Latin American-focused competitors in the past two and a half years, including two recent deals that were finalized in March. The company’s leadership sees itself as building a foundational talent pipeline for the rapidly advancing era of artificial intelligence, with more acquisitions expected in the near future.
